A day after Lamont Cole was unanimously selected by EBR Parish School Board, an introductory press conference was held in which Cole says his new position will take precedence as the most critical position he has ever held, calling it “the most important work of my lifetime.” (WBRZ)
Cole most recently served our community as Mayor Pro Tempore of East Baton Rouge Metro Council and chief academic officer of CSAL inc. He has dreamt of leading EBR schools since he was a kid and has served in more than 20 capacities within various education sectors in EBR. His experience does not stop there, however, Cole has previously served as principal of Park Forest Middle School as well as Capitol middle school, assistant principal of Westdale Middle school, and chief academic officer for ADVANCE Baton Rouge, a charter school association.
“God put it on my heart.” Cole said. “I want there to be a shift in the way that we think about public education here in our great city” (WBRZ) Cole pledges to work diligently in order to provide all EBR students with the proper resources needed for continuous development and progress academically as well as personally. “I firmly believe every student has, every child has genius-level ability that requires a teacher that (brings) genius-level ability for them to share and show” (WBRZ)
