Ingredients
For the filling:

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 tsp salt
• ½ tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp chili powder
• ½ tsp cumin
• ½ tsp smoked paprika
• ½ tsp oregano
• ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra spice)
• ½ cup tomato sauce or diced tomatoes
• ¼ cup water
For the tacos:
• 8 small corn or flour tortillas
• 1 cup shredded lettuce
• ½ cup diced tomatoes
• ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
• ¼ cup chopped cilantro
• ½ cup sour cream or Mexican crema
• 1 lime, cut into wedges
• 1 avocado, sliced (optional)
• ½ cup salsa or pico de gallo
Preparation
1. Prepare the filling:
• Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
• Add the chopped onion and cook until softened (about 2-3 minutes).
• Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
• Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon (about 5-7 minutes).
• Drain excess grease if necessary.
2. Season the meat:
• Add salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, and cayenne. Stir to combine.
• Pour in the tomato sauce and water, stirring well.
• Simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
3. Warm the tortillas:
• Heat a dry skillet over medium heat and warm each tortilla for about 30 seconds per side until slightly charred.
• Wrap in a clean kitchen towel to keep warm.
